I
want to be a teacher for many reasons. It all started when I was little. My mother and my grandmother both were teachers.
Individuals who had a love for education surrounded me when I was young. As I grew older my brother became an Exceptional
Education teacher. I have always had a love for helping others especially with their homework. It made me feel much smarter
when I could help others. Helping others made me feel as if I had already made it to being a good teacher, proving that I
had learned something by watching others.
My mother and my grandmother both were teachers. For as long as I can remember my mother taught school and made sure she always
taught in the after school program as well. The most important thing to her was making sure she reached at least one child
and was able to help them learn something that they did not know before. We usually stayed at school until late in the evening,
grading papers or doing a bulletin board. I made sure that I soaked up all the knowledge that I could about teaching from
them, so that I could use that information when the time came.
As I grew older
my brother became a teacher. I knew then that it must have been my calling to become a teacher because it has affected everybody.
He did not last long as a teacher but he made sure that he affected the students while they were his. He was in the Exceptional
Education department, and I would assist him sometimes along with my mother. That allowed me more time to get in practice
that I could later reflect back on and use myself.
I
have always loved helping people. I was told me more you help others the more you help yourself. That has been my philosophy
in education. If I teach others what I know then hopefully some one who knows more than me can teach me other things. From
the time I was little I have played school with my friends and I was always the teacher. I thought that by teaching them I
could also make sure that I did not forget what I had learned the year before. After all those years I still have a love for
teaching children to read, write and solve problems.
In
conclusion, I have realized that it has been in my blood for a long time to be a teacher. From the time that I was born, I
think it was implanted that I would be in the classroom. I have been told that I would make an excellent teacher, but that
I may end up broke trying to provide them with treats and incentives to do the work that is required of them. I just want
to make sure that all the children are able to learn. I also want them to be treated fairly in the classroom. I love to see
students smile and help them work towards the goals that I know they can achieve. I will push them if I know they are not
trying to do any work at all. I believe that you must stay firm on them to make sure that they understand that know they are
not working to their potential and that you expect more from them.
